Has anyone else been wishing for a real multiplayer version of The Sims where we could all inhabit the same world and interact with one another? It seems like such a great idea!

It’s interesting to think about! The Sims 4 almost went multiplayer, especially after the failure of the SimCity MMO, which pushed Maxis back to focusing on single-player. However, there’s a new project called Project René that’s aiming for multiplayer functionality!
Absolutely! If a multiplayer Sims game were to exist now, it would probably be loaded with microtransactions and fear of missing out, making it less enjoyable for the traditional fans of the franchise.
You know, GTA V feels like a Sims-like game where everyone is racing around committing chaos. It’s kind of the same vibe, just with cars and a lot more violence!
There used to be a game called “The Sims Online,” but it shut down back in 2008. Also, there was “Bustin’ Out” on PS2 that had co-op play. Currently, there’s a mod that allows some multiplayer features, but it’s limited to LAN or a Patreon version with more capabilities. Check it out: sims-multiplayer.com!
Wasn’t there a feature in the Showtime expansion that let you visit each other’s games?
Right! It was more of a way to share celebrities for concerts rather than a true multiplayer experience. It worked differently than the Cupid’s Corner in TS4.
Yeah, you mean the ‘simport’ feature! Although it didn’t work great and was pretty messy, that’s why I never got into that pack.
