I recently followed a guide to install Windows on my Steam Deck OLED, and while everything seems to be working great like sound, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth, I’m having a major issue with controls. When I try to play *Persona 5*, only a few buttons respond, like the mouse, ABXY, and the D-pad. The joysticks, triggers, steam button, and the three-dot button aren’t working at all! I can plug in an Xbox controller and that works fine, but I’d much prefer to use the built-in controls. Has anyone run into this issue or know if there are any settings I might be missing to fix this? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

It sounds like you’re running into issues with Steam Input settings. Make sure you’re launching *Persona 5* from Big Picture Mode; that usually helps with controller compatibility. You might also want to check if Steam Input is enabled for the game in the settings. Driver issues can crop up too, so using a tool like Driver Easy might help patch up any missing drivers.
Installing Windows on the Steam Deck is a tricky business. While it should work, a lot of folks report joystick issues. Before anything else, try reinstalling or updating your drivers, especially for the input devices. Sometimes it just needs a little nudge to recognize everything correctly!
I appreciate the advice! I’ll look into those drivers and see if that makes a difference.
You’re definitely not alone in this! A lot of players experience similar problems with built-in controls on Windows. Have you tried checking your Steam settings for any specific game configurations? Sometimes tweaking those can do the trick!
Windows on handhelds can be hit or miss. Make sure you’ve followed all the recommended practices and updates. If nothing works, consider switching back to SteamOS for better compatibility with Steam games.
One more thing – if you’re having trouble with specific games, it might be worth checking online forums or communities for game-specific tweaks. Sometimes other players discover hidden fixes!
Thanks for the tip! I had forgotten about launching in Big Picture Mode, I’ll give that a shot!
