I’m playing Silent Hill 2 at maximum settings with ray tracing enabled on my Lenovo Legion equipped with a 4070 GPU and Ryzen 7735HS processor. However, I’m not getting full GPU utilization and my FPS is low. It’s strange because in other games I average around 120 watts of power usage, but Silent Hill 2 is only hitting about 100 watts. Can anyone explain what’s happening?

It sounds like your GPU power draw and VRAM usage are where they should be for maxed out settings, which are going to be pretty demanding. Running with everything maxed, including ray tracing, could be straining the system in a way that’s causing it to throttle a bit to keep everything stable. Plus, different games handle resource demands in unique ways, so the behavior might not be consistent across different titles.
Even though it seems like your GPU isn’t running at full capacity, it could very well be a game optimization issue. Silent Hill 2 might not be fully optimized for systems like yours yet. Another thing to consider: if you have V-Sync enabled, that might be restricting your frame rate which can result in the GPU not reaching max output.
A lot of times, low GPU usage points to CPU bottlenecking, but since you have a Ryzen 7735HS, that seems unlikely. Instead, it could be that your system is balancing load and temperatures under the custom mode settings. Make sure your CPU isn’t overheating and check if there are any background processes hogging power.
