I’ve been having some trouble getting my DualSense Edge controller to rumble in a few games that are supposed to support it, like Monster Hunter Wilds and Stellar Blade. Interestingly, games that don’t officially support DualSense rumble seem to work fine. Oddly enough, Ratchet & Clank, which supports DualSense, does rumble correctly for me. Here are some details about my setup:
* I’m using the controller wired (I tried it wirelessly too).
* My OS is Fedora 42 running KDE (Wayland).
* I’m launching these games via Steam.
* The DualSense shows up in the audio output settings and audio plays through the controller without issue when tested.
* I’ve tried playing with the controller as the default audio device but it seems to only route sound very quietly through the haptic coils.
* I also removed all configs related to Pipewire and ALSA and reinstalled the relevant packages.
* I’ve experimented with different Proton versions.

It might help to switch to a different Proton version. It can be hit or miss, though. Some versions have patches for DualSense haptics, but not all of them include those fixes. Last I checked, Proton-GE worked well for haptics, while proton-exp didn’t seem to provide the same support.
Do you know the exact version number of Proton? If I change them too often, I might get locked out for a day, and I’ve had that happen before.
