Why Isn’t My 180Hz Monitor Performing Well?

-

Hey everyone, I’m having a weird issue with my 180Hz monitor. When I set it to 60Hz, it works just fine, but switching to 180Hz makes the display way worse than 60Hz. I’m running Windows alongside, and the monitor works well at 180Hz there, so I don’t think it’s a hardware or cable problem. Has anyone else encountered this?

What desktop environment or window manager are you using? Also, have you tried the UFO test to check your refresh rates? Sometimes it’s a software hiccup.

It might help to share more about your software setup. Which Linux distribution are you on, and which desktop environment are you using? Are you running Wayland or Xorg? If you’re not sure, we can usually guess based on your distro’s default settings. Also, are you using the Nvidia driver or the open-source one?

I’m on Ubuntu 22.04 with GNOME and Xorg.
