Hey everyone! I have an AMD graphics card, specifically the Radeon RX 5700 XT, and I’ve noticed something odd with Guild Wars 2. Whenever I launch the game, the task manager shows that my GPU usage is almost always below 1%, which seems really low for a game like this. I’ve checked online, but I can’t find a clear answer as to why my dedicated GPU isn’t being utilized as I’d expect. Here’s a bit about my setup:
– Processor: AMD Ryzen 7 3700X
– RAM: 32GB
– GPU: AMD Radeon RX 5700 XT
I’ve made sure all my drivers are updated, including the Adrenalin software from AMD. Any tips or advice on how I can make sure my GPU is being used more effectively?

Keep in mind that GW2 is generally more CPU intensive rather than GPU-heavy. So it’s not unlikely for your GPU usage to be lower than expected.
Actually, you should check the monitor connection. Make sure it’s plugged into the GPU and not the motherboard, since the R7 3700X doesn’t have onboard graphics. However, I agree—Windows task manager can show some weird numbers sometimes.
Task manager isn’t always accurate with GPU usage. You might want to try a different monitoring tool like MSI Afterburner, which gives a more reliable reading on how your GPU is performing while gaming. It can help you see what’s really going on with your GPU.
I’d like to see a screenshot of your task manager too! I’ve mostly seen it showing CPU, RAM, Disk, and Network usage, but not much for GPU.
That’s true, but still, below 1% seems really low. My old RX 480 gets around 50% usage while playing.
