Hey everyone! I’m a first-time player of Oblivion and I’ve spent a ton of time in Fallout 4 and Skyrim before this. I’m trying to understand how the Chameleon effect works with stealth. I’ve got a 95% Chameleon rating thanks to three enchanted pieces: a robe, clogs, and a ring. But I’m having trouble—enemies still seem to notice me, except for rats in dungeons who are completely oblivious. My stealth skill is around 48. What am I missing?

To really make Chameleon work for you, you need to hit 100%. At that level, you become completely invisible, and enemies won’t be able to see you at all—even when you attack or cast spells! Just a heads-up, it can definitely break the game once you unlock that, though!
Chameleon basically reduces how far away enemies can spot you, so if you’re too close, they’ll still see you. Try staying further back and watch your movement—being still helps a lot!
Yeah, I’ve noticed the same! If you stand still, they can get super close without noticing you. Just be patient and play around with it.
Honestly, even if you max out Chameleon, remember that invisibility has its limitations. The moment you do anything other than walk, you’re visible again. It’s a bit weird, I know! Just be strategic about it.
So it sounds like I just need to boost my Chameleon by 5% more. Can’t wait to see how it changes everything!
