I’m genuinely trying to have a serious conversation about my concerns regarding the upcoming Switch 2 without it turning hostile like my last post did. I’ve been a Nintendo fan since the N64 days and have owned every console at launch. Although I loved the original Switch concept, I’m really hesitant about this next iteration due to several reasons. First, it doesn’t feel like a significant upgrade as the UI looks almost unchanged after 8 years. Second, the eShop has been notoriously difficult to navigate, and it seems like Switch 2 will have the same issues. I also worry about the library of existing games not getting the necessary updates to improve performance. Additionally, the rising costs of both the console and the games are concerning, especially since discounts from Nintendo are rare. I’m just interested in a respectful dialogue about these points. Anyone else feeling the same way?

Honestly, skepticism is healthy prior to a launch. I think you should wait and see how reviews roll in before making a decision. But I get it, some of the UI and pricing feels off. At the end of the day, if the games look great and run smoothly, it might be worth it! I pre-ordered too but I always keep an open mind.
Look, it’s easy to complain, but I think we’ve just become accustomed to being critical of big companies. Nintendo is no different from others when it comes to marketing strategies. I don’t expect them to change their approach drastically, but there are still great titles that will come out! Just stick with how you feel, but don’t shut out the potential for fun games!
That’s true! Nintendo does have a track record of delivering unique experiences. I guess time will tell!
It’s perfectly fine to have concerns about a new console release especially when it comes to cost and usability! But let’s see how things pan out after launch. A strong library can change everything, and Mario Kart being reimagined could be amazing! I’m leaning towards waiting for reviews myself.
I hear you! I really want to see how big of a leap in graphics and functionality they can give us. Fingers crossed!
You’ve got some valid points here! The Switch 2 does seem like it’s going to have a lot of the same issues as its predecessor, particularly with things like the eShop experience which has been frustrating for a lot of users. I’m also curious about how old titles will perform. While I’m excited about some new releases, I do think Nintendo needs to communicate better about potential improvements for existing games. It’s all about higher expectations with new hardware, right?
Totally agree! If they don’t improve those older games, it might make it hard for many of us to justify an upgrade.
I get where you’re coming from but let’s not forget that upgrades take time. While you might see it as lazy, a lot of work goes into these graphical enhancements and new features. I honestly think the hardware will ultimately justify the cost, especially with multiplayer experiences that Nintendo excels at. Plus, if they plan any major updates, it could surprise us!
You could be right! It’s just that communication from them recently has been lacking, which adds to the frustration.
Absolutely! It’s definitely wise to isn’t jump in on day one. I’ve seen so many gamers feel let down after that initial excitement fades.
