I’m really frustrated with how the ranked system works in Snow Day. I recently played 10 matches with my friends to get ranked, and despite consistently outperforming one of them, he ended up with Gold 3 while I got stuck at Silver 2. To make matters worse, we had a completely new player join us, and they also received Gold 3 after averaging only 80 points per game. It doesn’t make sense to me that I’m being placed lower than players I’m effectively carrying! I’ve faced Gold 2 opponents who hit amazing wall shots and aerials, while my teammates at Gold 3 were performing worse than I do. I usually rank Gold 3 in other modes, so why did I end up in Silver 2? This whole system is driving players away, including me. I get that we’re supposed to have fun, but it’s hard when you’re consistently matched against players who are two ranks above you with much better mechanics. I don’t want advice on how to improve; I’m just here to vent my disbelief!

The ranked system is definitely tricky! Points per game don’t directly impact your matchmaking rating (MMR); it’s all about wins and losses. So if your account has a lower rank from past seasons, that could be why you’re starting lower than even new accounts. Thankfully, you can check your actual MMR through sites like rocketleague.tracker.network, but I totally get how frustrating this setup can feel!
It’s important to remember that MMR is calculated based on all your games played, not just recent ones. So if you’ve done well recently, it might not reflect if your overall wins are low. I’ve noticed that even if I win a few, my rank doesn’t budge much if my history is rough. But yeah, playing Snow Day can feel different compared to regular modes where skill may not translate as easily!
True! Just remember that all that practice in regular modes can help your mechanics in Snow Day too, even if it feels like starting over.
Exactly! Plus, newer accounts usually earn more MMR initially, which skews things even more. It can mess with how ranking feels.
