I’m facing a perplexing issue with my Valorant performance compared to my friend’s setup. We both have similar specs – my friend has a Ryzen 5 5600X while I’ve got an Intel i5-12400F. We each have 32GB of RAM, but mine runs at 3200MHz compared to his 2400MHz. Graphically, I have an Nvidia RTX 3060 and he has an AMD 6600XT, which is supposed to be pretty comparable. The problem is that I’m only hitting around 220 FPS, while he’s consistently racking up 350-450 FPS. Both of our games are installed on SSDs, so I’m really confused about why my performance is lagging so much. Any insights?

I have a setup similar to your friend’s with the 5600X and a 6600XT, and it performs surprisingly well. But that just intensifies the mystery over your underperformance. Have you checked for background processes eating up resources or maybe something hardware-wise isn’t playing nicely?
It sounds like the 6600XT is giving a significant edge in Valorant, as benchmarks show it can be around 27% faster than the 3060. Plus, your friend’s CPU might be slightly better for gaming too, which could explain some of that gap.
That kinda makes sense, but a 100% difference seems a bit extreme given those specs. I mean, I’ve seen setups with a 3060 and i5-12400F perform closer to what your friend is getting.
You mentioned that your CPU and GPU aren’t the only factors; it’s crucial to check if both of you are using the same game settings. Are you both running the latest drivers, the same resolution, and default GPU configurations? Such discrepancies can really affect FPS.
Yeah, I actually found out my friend is using high FHD, but I’m running at a lower 1568×1080. So that might explain part of it. At least the drivers are up to date!
That’s true, I’m definitely curious about those background processes. I’ll have to dig into that and see if anything is taking up too much CPU or RAM.
