I’m a new Steam Deck user, so I hope you can help me out! I recently picked up Beyond 2 Souls for under five bucks and started gaming. However, I’ve noticed that the device is really hot, and the fan is constantly running. I’ve played other games like Half-Life and the Metro series without any heating issues before. Is this heat normal because of the graphics intensity, or is something else going on? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

It’s pretty normal for the Steam Deck to get hot, especially when playing graphic-intensive games. If your temperatures are around 80°C, that’s okay. Consider lowering the thermal design power (TDP) settings to help with heat management.
Are you running your Deck at 90Hz? If so, try adjusting the FPS settings to something lower, like 40fps. That usually keeps the heat down without sacrificing much gameplay quality. Also, check ProtonDB for any tweaks specific to your game.
When you say hot, what temperatures are you actually seeing? It’s useful to keep track of the exact readings to know if it’s really an issue or just typical heat from intensive gaming.
It’s warm around the top vent and the fan is always running. I’ll check the temp when I get home!
I haven’t messed with any settings since I just set it up. Thanks for the tips; I’ll check it out!
