I’ve noticed that when I use the power button to put my Steam Deck to sleep or turn it off, it seems to lose battery really quickly. I usually just hit the power button on the control panel or the device itself. Is there a better way to turn it off, or is this normal?

It sounds like you’re putting your Steam Deck into sleep mode, which can still drain battery over time. If you’ve had it sit for a while and it’s dead when you come back, try fully powering it down instead of just using sleep mode. This will help preserve the battery life.
Exactly! I’ve heard it’s about 10% loss per day in sleep mode, so for longer breaks, shutting it down is the way to go.
I had the same issue before! The Steam Deck drains around 10% battery per day in sleep mode, so if you’re not using it for a while, shutting it down completely is a lot more efficient. Just remember to use the shutdown option from the menu instead of the power button.
Totally agree! I didn’t realize how much battery I was losing until I started fully powering mine down.
Yeah, sleep mode can lead to some significant battery drain, especially with the recent updates. Make sure you check your settings for quick boot in UEFI to help mitigate this.
