I recently upgraded my setup to include an RX 9070XT along with 32GB of RAM and a Ryzen 7 5800x. While testing Cyberpunk 2077, I noticed my frame rates are significantly lower than benchmarks I’ve seen. For example, I often hit around 80-90 fps, but videos show people getting 100-110 fps. Even more frustrating, when enabling FSR and frame generation, I’ve seen others reach about 230 fps while I’m capped around 150. I’m wondering if my CPU is bottlenecking performance, but my CPU usage is usually under 90%. My 3D Mark scores are also just average for this graphics card. Could it be a CPU issue, or is the performance in those videos exaggerated?

You’re probably needing something like a 5700X3D at the very least, but the 7800X3D would be even better if you’re open to upgrading to a new platform.
I haven’t found any recent CPU scaling tests with RDNA 4 GPUs either. It would be helpful to see if the bottleneck really is due to the CPU. Maybe someone else has insights?
Sounds like your 5800X might be bottlenecking the RX 9070XT in certain scenarios, especially if you’re not seeing GPU utilization in the high 90s. High frame rates require a solid CPU as a partner. Have you checked your utilization closely?
Remember, the benchmarks you’re comparing to might be using newer CPUs and DDR5 RAM, which can make a big difference. Your CPU and RAM setup is likely holding back that GPU’s potential.
Yeah, my GPU utilization does hover in the high 90s during gameplay.
