I’ve been having this problem where my PS5 starts overheating just a minute into gameplay, causing it to shut off unexpectedly. I opened it up for a cleaning, and it looked pretty clean inside, but it still shuts down after a couple of minutes of playing. It seems to run fine when playing PS4 games, but anything on the PS5 causes these shutdowns. I’m at a loss here—any ideas on what to do?

Have you done a thorough cleaning? In my experience, many overheating issues can often be traced back to dust buildup inside the console. If you’re not comfortable taking it apart completely, maybe ask a friend who knows how to clean it properly. There are services out there, but yeah, they’re on the expensive side. It’s worth checking if someone can help you out first.
I had a similar issue with my PS5, which I’ve owned for about three years. I did the same cleaning and even fixed the liquid metal, but it still overheats when playing PS5 games. Interestingly, it only seems to shut down during PS5 titles—PS4 games work just fine. It could be a sign that your console is struggling with newer games due to heat issues.
Could it be the power cable or maybe even the power supply needs a clean-up? Sometimes just blowing out the dust from those areas can help!

I usually take it apart to reach the power supply, and I didn’t notice any significant dust there, but I’m willing to try another round of cleaning.
