So, out of nowhere, my PS5 stopped working yesterday. When I try to turn it on, it goes from a blue LED to white, then beeps three times before shutting off. I couldn’t even get into safe mode at first. After leaving it unplugged for about 15 hours, I managed to access safe mode and repaired the storage system but didn’t format it. The console worked for a bit, allowing me to navigate the home screen where all my games and saves were still intact. However, after around 10 minutes, it beeped three times again and turned off.
I checked the fan, and it’s working fine. I had it cleaned and the liquid metal replaced about a month ago, so I don’t think it’s an overheating issue because the PS5 is cold. I even tried booting it without HDMI, but the issue persisted. I noticed that if I plug in the power cord without starting the PS5, the blue LED lights up and then turns off, though after those 15 hours unplugged it didn’t do that. My friends think it might be a problem with the internal power supply since one of them experienced the same issue and replaced it to fix it. Should I attempt a complete reset of my internal storage before sending it off for repairs? Also, I’ve tried different power cords as well.

It sounds like a frustrating issue! The three beeps usually indicate a hardware problem, and since you’ve recently had it cleaned and the liquid metal replaced, it might not be an overheating issue like you suspect. I’d recommend checking the connections inside if you feel comfortable doing so or getting a professional to take a look. As for resetting your internal storage, if you can back up your saves somehow, that might be worth considering, but it might not solve the root issue if it’s the power supply. Good luck!
I think your friends might be onto something regarding the internal power supply. That beep pattern is often tied to hardware faults. If you can get to safe mode, it could help troubleshoot some issues, but I’d recommend not resetting everything unless you have to. It might be a hassle to set up all your games again if it doesn’t fix the problem. Hang in there!
Thanks for the advice! I think I’ll hold off on the reset for now and see if I can get someone to look at the power supply first.

Yeah, I agree with PixelWarrior. If you’re unsure about opening it up yourself, just send it for repair after backing up saves. At least you’ll know that the hardware will be properly checked out.
