I’ve been facing a frustrating issue for the past three days where my PC shuts down just a minute or so after booting into Windows. I’m used to my system shutting down randomly after long hours of use, which I traced back to unclean power from the wall, but I got a UPS for that and it worked fine until now. This new shutdown issue occurs once I reach the desktop and can access my apps, but then it powers off abruptly. The strange part is that I can restart the computer and use it normally without any further shutdowns during that session. I’ve already checked my UPS, which is fine, and I ran several stress tests and gaming sessions for hours without problems. My SSD health is good, and I’ve verified that my Windows files are intact using tools like CrystalDiskInfo. I also conducted OCCT tests for power and RAM, and they all passed without a hitch. However, the fans and RGB lights take an unusual 20 to 30 seconds to turn off after a shutdown, which I’ve never noticed before. Recently, AMD Adrenaline updated a driver on May 8, which coincides with when the shutdown problem started. Is it possible that this new GPU driver is causing the issue? Additionally, my game Marvel Rivals has been crashing unexpectedly since the driver update, but before that, it ran without glitches. Here are my specs: Ryzen 5 8500G CPU, RX 6600 GPU, 32GB RAM, 512GB SSD, 1TB HDD, MSI B650M Gaming WiFi motherboard, Gigabyte P450B PSU. I’d appreciate any help to diagnose and fix this issue. Also, I noticed my PC shut off while in use, and the event viewer flagged a critical error about an unexpected power loss. Now, my PC refuses to turn on at all, and the power button gives a shock when touched. What should I do next?

It sounds like your Ryzen CPU might be having trouble with stability. If you’re overclocking your RAM with XMP or EXPO settings, try disabling those to see if it reduces the shutdowns. Sometimes instability in the RAM can cause those random shutdowns. Given that your hardware is relatively new, the issue could also be linked to how the power supply is delivering juice; if it’s on the fritz, it might cause problems at startup.
Are you using the curve offset feature? Undervolting too much can make your system unstable, causing those mysterious reboots. If you aren’t, it might be worth checking the power supply; they can create random issues as they start to fail.
I had a similar experience when my NVIDIA drivers updated. Roll back to the previous driver version to see if the issue persists. Keep an eye on your temps too; overheating can cause shutdowns right after boot.
Just to add, if rolling back the driver doesn’t help, it could really be a sign your power supply is reaching its limits or failing. Take a close look at your PSU for any signs of wear!
I’ve been there! I had similar shutdowns after an update. If it really started after that AMD driver was installed, rolling back to a previous version might solve the issue. Just make sure your system is stable before you try it!
