I’ve been troubleshooting some serious issues with my PC since I tried overclocking my GPU for the first time using MSI Afterburner. In the past two years, my PC has run smoothly, but now it’s constantly blackscreening and resetting drivers while I’m playing games, or sometimes it just crashes outright. I had forgotten I was already using Nvidia’s automatic overclock feature before trying Afterburner. After realizing this, I reverted all changes and uninstalled Afterburner, but I’m still facing the same problems now. In War Thunder, the game frequently auto-minimizes and seems to reset the graphics, which leads me to think there might be a memory leak. In Valorant, I get a black screen, and the whole system crashes and restarts. I’m certain these issues are related to the overclocking attempt. Here are my system specs for reference: GPU – 4080 16 GB, CPU – 7800x3D, MOBO – Asrock Taichi Carrera, RAM – 32GB, and PSU – MSI MPG A1000G 80+ Gold.

It sounds like your power supply might be the culprit since you’re using a high-end GPU. Make sure your PSU is delivering enough power for the 4080, especially if you’ve been tinkering with overclocks. If it’s too weak or malfunctioning, it could cause crashes under load.
Your issue might also be related to the memory settings. Since you mentioned a memory leak in War Thunder, try reducing your graphics settings to see if it stabilizes the game. Sometimes reverting to default settings in games can help too. Just be sure to check for any graphics driver updates as well!
Definitely check for driver updates! Outdated graphics drivers can seriously mess with stability after any changes, including overclocking.
Yeah, a 1000W PSU should be plenty for a 4080, assuming it’s in good condition. Have you checked if the PSU cables are properly connected and not damaged?
