Hey everyone, I’m facing a really annoying flickering issue with some games, specifically GTA5 Enhanced. My setup includes a 7900XTX graphics card and a 165Hz monitor with FreeSync Premium, and I’m using Bazzite 42 for it. While the game is locked at 120 FPS, I’ve noticed my refresh rate fluctuates wildly between 70 to 130 Hz, causing some serious flickering that feels intense enough to trigger an epilepsy attack. I’ve tried both fullscreen and borderless modes with no improvement. Interestingly, I didn’t experience this issue on Windows 11, although I had other performance-related problems. Any tips or solutions would be greatly appreciated!

What’s your screen’s refresh rate? If the game’s FPS exceeds your refresh rate, it might cause VRR to toggle on and off really fast, which could lead to flickering. Make sure everything is set up correctly with your refresh settings!
Are you using a DisplayPort connection? That can sometimes affect how VRR behaves with certain setups.
Yes, I am using DisplayPort.
It’s set to 165Hz and the game runs at a stable 120 FPS. I started playing Doom Dark Age too, and that game doesn’t have this issue. I wonder if the GTA launcher is messing with VRR somehow. Someone even suggested trying Gnome DE.
