I’m having a frustrating issue with Minecraft where my frame rate is stuck at 60 FPS, even though I’ve tried all the usual fixes. Vsync is turned off, and I’ve set the FPS limit to off in the Nvidia control panel. I’ve tested with both the vanilla version and Fabric, but it’s still the same. My display refresh rate is set to 144Hz in my Windows settings. By the way, I’m playing on a laptop using Java version 1.21.1.

It sounds like you might be running into some issues with where the monitor is plugged in, especially since you’re on a laptop. Sometimes the game might be using the integrated graphics instead of the Nvidia GPU. Make sure your laptop is set to use the Nvidia GPU for Minecraft; you can check this in your graphics settings. If that doesn’t help, try adjusting the graphics settings in the Intel or AMD control panel as well!
Also, I noticed in your settings screenshot that it shows 137 FPS, not 60. Are you sure the game is locked to 60 FPS? Sometimes it might just display lower in certain scenarios due to your monitor’s output.
Yeah, I was confused about that too! Just trying to get to the bottom of what’s going on.
I had the same issue, and switching to the dedicated GPU made a big difference for me. Definitely worth checking!
