I recently upgraded from an RX 560 to an R9 390, expecting better performance. Before the switch, I could run Minecraft with shaders at 60+ FPS, but now I can barely get above 10 FPS. I’ve updated the drivers, but they might still be outdated. It’s surprising since I’ve even run Minecraft on laptops with integrated graphics better than this setup. Any advice on how to fix this?

It sounds frustrating to make a GPU upgrade and hit such a low FPS! First, try taking a screenshot of your game while pressing F3 to see the debug information. This could highlight any issues the game is facing or confirm if Minecraft is utilizing your GPU properly. Upload it to Imgur so we can take a look!
What should I be looking for in the debug info?
Outdated drivers can definitely cause performance problems. It might be worth uninstalling the current drivers and downloading the latest version directly from AMD’s website. Sometimes, those generic drivers don’t optimize performance well. After reinstalling, test Minecraft again and see if the FPS improves!
Also, check your graphics settings in Minecraft. Sometimes, certain shader packs or settings can be super demanding. Lowering them could give you a significant boost until your GPU drivers are sorted out.
Got it! I’ll upload it now.
