Hey everyone! I’m having a bit of trouble with my SFF PC setup in a CoolerMaster NR200P v2 Max. The CPU, a Ryzen 7 7700x, is getting really hot, with temperatures around 70°C even when the CPU isn’t heavily used. It runs fine under stress tests without throttling, but it stabilizes at around 95°C, which is concerning. Here are my specs:
– Mobo: Asrock B650i Lightning WiFi
– GPU: Gigabyte RTX 4070 Windforce OC
For cooling, I’ve got a CoolerMaster AIO (280mm) and two 120mm fans for exhaust, all in a negative pressure setup. However, my PC is inside a large cabinet, which blocks three sides, leaving only one side ventilated. The GPU temps are great, usually around 34°C, but the CPU is still bothering me, especially since it can approach 60°C even at idle. I’ve tried tweaking PBO settings and setting fans to performance mode, but the noise is a lot. I’m even considering reapplying thermal paste, but the PC is only a few months old. Any suggestions would be highly appreciated!

I see your setup is running negative pressure, which can actually lead to more heat buildup since there’s no fresh air intake. Consider switching to at least one intake fan to balance things out. It’ll help pull cooler air in and can make a difference in temps!
Have you thought about taking your PC out of that enclosed space? Sometimes those setups can trap heat. Try running it on your desk or somewhere open with all side panels off to see if it helps. If that doesn’t work, then maybe think about repasting the CPU if you’ve ruled out other factors.
That’s a solid idea, I’ll definitely give that a shot. I still have a feeling that it might be a config issue or something with the cooling setup.
I’m not too worried about high temps during demanding tasks, but those idle temps you’re mentioning seem odd, especially in that small space. Running at 38-40°C in that box isn’t ideal either. Might be time to rethink the box strategy too.
I’m not sure why you’d want full negative pressure. It’s like not allowing fresh air to get to your CPU cooler—that airflow is crucial! Maybe try adjusting your fan setup?
Yeah, I’d read about that setup but I’m not convinced it’s working as I thought. I’ll consider some changes.
I remember seeing that suggestion too. Gonna check if my case can fit an intake fan somehow.
