Hey everyone, I need some help here. Yesterday, I turned off my computer and when I woke up today, it was running super slow. After a few restarts, it started working fine again, but I noticed that the idle temperature is sitting around 60°C. The crazy part is, whenever I open any app or game, the temperature shoots up to a whopping 85-95°C, even if I’m not actually using it yet. I’ve had this computer for about eight months and haven’t replaced the thermal paste at all. It has a water cooler setup, and I didn’t build it myself; it was preassembled. Any ideas on what’s going on? Could it be the thermal paste?

It’s unlikely that the thermal paste is the issue this soon. The paste used with water coolers usually lasts longer than that. Have you checked if the cooler is properly mounted? Sometimes those can get loose or not make good contact, causing overheating. Also, take a look at your fans and ensure they’re running properly, as airflow plays a huge role in keeping temperatures down.
Thanks for the suggestion! I’ll definitely check the cooler installation and see how the fans are doing.
