I just built my new PC, excluding the graphics card for now as I’m still waiting for it. But right from the start, the processor is reaching its maximum temperature. The BIOS shows it’s running at 99.5-100 degrees Celsius consistently. I’ve made sure everything is installed properly, the fans are working, and I’ve noticed the liquid moving in my AIO cooler during startup. Strangely, nothing inside the case feels warm even though the motherboard temp is just 20 degrees. Could it be because I’m relying on the integrated graphics for the moment? Or maybe the motherboard isn’t reading the temps right? What am I missing here, fellow gamers?
Here are the specs for reference:
– CPU: Intel i7-14700K
– MOBO: ASRock B760M Pro-A
– RAM: Corsair Vengeance DDR5-6000MHz
– PSU: Seasonic Focus GX-1000 ATX3
– Cooling: Arctic Liquid Freezer III 360
– Storage: Samsung 990 PRO SSD 2TB PCIe 4.0 M.2
– Plus a couple of fans to cool

Since you’re seeing liquid movement in your AIO, it sounds like it’s operational. But, considering your temps, double-check the thermal paste application too. Sometimes that little layer isn’t doing its job right, especially if it’s unevenly applied.
Did you remember to remove any protective sticker on the cooler’s base? I’ve seen folks forget and it causes major temp issues because it’s like a mini oven in there.
Sounds like the cooler might not be mounted properly. If the CPU is hitting those temps right from the start, it’s probably not making good contact. Double-check that the cooler is seated right and screwed down tightly. Sometimes we think it’s tight, but a little tweak can make all the difference.

I had a similar issue once; the cooler wasn’t on as snugly as I thought. Once tightened properly, temps were back to normal.
