Hey everyone, I’ve got a bit of a head-scratcher with my Aorus 5080 graphics card. I usually play games that aren’t too demanding, but I can barely touch 60 FPS. For instance, in Euro Truck Simulator 2, I sometimes dip down to 40 FPS when loading cities. In Sea of Thieves, I hit around 60 FPS, but it feels stuttery and not smooth at all. On the flip side, in Forza Horizon 5, I’m getting well over 60 FPS even on max settings. My specs are an Intel i5 14600k with 32GB of Corsair DDR4 3200 RAM. I also have an NVMe SSD, and V-Sync is on. Even without V-Sync, I’m stuck at 60 in Sea of Thieves and 90 in ETS 2. Funny enough, I get 110 FPS in MSI Kombustor on 4K fullscreen. Has anyone experienced this or know how to fix it? Any tips would be greatly appreciated!

ETS 2 is pretty old, and the 5000 series doesn’t fully support PhysX, which could explain why you’re seeing lower performance in older games. You might want to check if NVIDIA has made PhysX open source yet; if so, installing it could improve your experience. Just my two cents!
What power supply and motherboard are you using? That can make a big difference in performance, especially under load.
I’ve got a bequiet Pure Power 12m 1000w and an Aorus Z790 DDR4 Elite.
Make sure your monitor is connected directly to the graphics card, not the motherboard. Also, did you uninstall the old drivers before installing the new GPU? You might also want to check if integrated graphics are running on your Intel CPU.
Yeah, it’s connected to the motherboard. I updated the drivers, but didn’t uninstall the old ones. How can I check if I’m using integrated graphics?
What’s your GPU usage looking like while you’re playing? That might give clues as to what’s going on.
FH5 is around 50% because of V-Sync, ETS 2 is 80%+, and Sea of Thieves is 90%+.
The PhysX calculations could be relying more on your CPU, especially in older games. Might be worth checking that!
