Hey everyone, I’m currently leveling up my Norn character and just hit level 59. I’m really enjoying the personal story and taking my time with it, but I ran into a bit of a snag. I want to go fishing, but it turns out I can’t unlock that skill until I get into the End of Dragons (EoD) content. I get that some features are tied to expansions, but it feels odd that a basic activity like fishing requires you to complete some story missions first. I’d rather not rush through the EoD story just to unlock fishing. Has anyone else found this frustrating? Just wanted to share my thoughts!

It is a bummer that you have to engage with the story first. Once you actually get to the Seitung Province map, you can unlock fishing without continuing the story. You might want to consider changing your language settings while you do the initial missions to avoid spoilers! It’s not a perfect solution, but it could help.
Totally get your frustration! It kinda sucks to have to grind through combat challenges just to unlock fishing. The masteries from EoD are really tied to the whole fishing experience, so even if you unlock it early, you won’t get much out of it without those masteries. They might want to consider an option like a fishing pass for players. That could be fun!
It’s pretty common for games to lock features behind expansions to encourage purchases, but yeah, I can see how fishing feels like it should be available to everyone. It’s annoying, but if you want to fish, you might just have to unlock it and jump back to your story later. Personally, I went ahead and got fishing unlocked, and I had a great time with it!
Honestly, I feel your pain! The fishing system feels really integrated with EoD, and it makes sense when you realize that fishing is one of the main features. Yet it also feels restrictive. I think it’s silly to tie such a simple feature directly to story progression!
