Hey everyone! So I’ve been having a weird issue with Doom Eternal. I used to play it on Linux Mint with decent performance—about 60-70 FPS without any upscaling. I recently switched back to Windows for some features I needed, and I downloaded the game again. However, I’m now struggling to get it to run at even 15-20 FPS on low settings with upscaling. My PC specs are mid-range and I bought it about three years ago, so I can’t really afford a new one right now. I’m curious if there’s something I need to tweak on Windows or if the Linux setup was just performing that much better. Any insights would be appreciated! Thanks!

Honestly, switching back to Windows and expecting the same experience might not be the best idea if you’re using a pirated version. Just saying, that could lead to all sorts of issues! Maybe look into buying the game to get a stable performance.
It sounds like you might have some settings enabled that could be dragging your performance down. If you’re using a newer version of the game on Windows, it might have added Raytracing features that you’re not aware of. Those can really take a toll on FPS, especially if your GPU isn’t built for that. Try checking the graphics settings to see if Raytracing or anything similar is turned on by accident!
You might want to consider that AMD performs better on Linux with MESA compared to Windows’ proprietary drivers. In benchmarks, Linux often shows about 10% better performance. So it’s possible that Linux just made better use of your hardware. Plus, if Mint is running an older version of MESA, it could help your performance more than you realize!
I see what you mean! I thought I’d have similar performance or at least be able to upscale it a bit. I really appreciate the input! I’ll check that out.
Yeah, that makes sense! I didn’t even think about that. I’ll definitely check the settings when I get a chance.
