Hey everyone! I’ve been diving deep into discussions about League of Legends lately and I’ve come across a lot of talk about how players feel stuck in low elo, often blaming things like ‘elo hell’ or the presence of smurfs. I’ve been playing since September and currently sit at Iron 2. I’ve faced off against Bronze players and can confidently say I’m better than a few of them, yet I find myself struggling more against other Iron players. I’m curious—why is that? I get responses like ‘just get better’ or that any Platinum player would easily dominate lower ranks. But is that really the case, or is that just some Reddit myth? I know Challenger players can crush low elo, but what about a Platinum player? I’d love to hear your thoughts and have a respectful chat about this!

Low elo can feel really challenging because you often end up grouped with players who may not be adequately prepared for ranked play. I managed to climb out, but I noticed a lot of players in low elo lack fundamental skills like champion selection, itemization, and map awareness. Plus, many tend to get defensive when offered constructive criticism, making teamwork really hard. It’s definitely a tough climb out of there; I totally get where you’re coming from!
Generally, anyone who is two ranks above yours should have a pretty solid chance of winning. The only real exception is Diamond 4, where smurfs can struggle due to the unpredictability of their teammates. It’s a roll of the dice sometimes!
Right? It feels like League in low elo can be a nightmare because of how often you get matched with players who aren’t even picking the right champions or building correctly. It’s all about team synergy and some players seem to forget that.
To climb, you mostly need to play enough games and sharpen your skills. But honestly, when smurfs are in the mix, developing that skill can take longer. They add a chaotic element that makes the climb tougher!
Exactly! It seems like a lot of the posts I read are by higher ranked players. Considering the game’s been around for over a decade, I think lower ranks have improved and aren’t as hopeless as people make them out to be. Having played CS for 15+ years, I find it way harder to carry in League. Once enemies get fed, it pretty much feels like a lost cause!
