I’ve been playing this game for about 40 hours and I’m dedicated to improving. I’ve committed to the rocket pass and am playing more frequently now. Typically, I do a short 15-minute free play session or some all-star/pro striker tutorials to warm up before hitting 3v3 casual matches to work on my defense and rotations. However, I’ve encountered this frustrating situation where one of my teammates gets upset when I accidentally hit the ball towards our own goal. He spams the chat saying ‘Faking’ and keeps bumping into me. After I try to be supportive by complimenting him on a missed shot, he just continues to derail the game. This behavior seems to happen a lot in casual matches! Oddly enough, I’ve had a more enjoyable time playing ranked. What’s up with all the toxicity in casual play? I’m just here to enjoy a game, people!

Personally, as someone who was around for Rocket League at the start and enjoyed being able to leave casual at a whim (doesn’t matter if someone had something come up, or just wants to leave because they’re losing), I find this change egregious having only recently returned.
Now I’m forced to stay in a match that my team is losing; I’m scoring goals and defending, and my two teammates are crashing into each other and/or just smashing the ball ANYWHERE regardless of tactics.
So what happens? I vote to concede. The other two don’t.
What happens then? I stop playing. They already suck. We lose by even more. Casual bans were added because there are people who ONLY play casual, and they threw a hissy fit over people leaving their games. Because they don’t want to go play ranked and get their feelings hurt by…. What; not getting as good a rank as they hoped?
I actually think treating casual like ranked isn’t all bad. A lot of players warm up in casual, and that’s why you might see some rage. But yeah, it’s annoying. Many players think they’re the best with just a few hundred hours under their belt and blame anyone else for their mistakes. It’s like the Dunning-Kruger effect is in full swing! When that happens to me, I just apologize and keep playing, even if they go toxic. Gotta keep your head in the game!
Honestly, a good way to handle the negativity is to just turn off the chat, even the team quick chat. I totally get what you’re going through. It reminds me of the early days when the game first came out—everyone was just learning and having fun. Nowadays, the toxic environment is really annoying. Don’t let it get to you!
I once paired with a player who kept ramming me and then just gave up midway through the match, driving backwards into our goal. I had to block him after that, he just made it unbearable!
