Hey everyone! I recently reinstalled Apex Legends, and now my CPU hits around 90°C while I’m just chilling in the menu. It’s running fine with other games, and I even got my fans replaced recently, which helped a bit, but Apex seems to be the odd one out. I tried downloading it through Epic Games instead of Steam, but I still get the same overheating issue. Any advice on how to resolve this?

It might be related to the shaders loading for your selected maps after updates. When the game loads a map for the first time, it can stress the CPU pretty hard. It could be that your CPU is just working extra while those shaders are being compiled. You might want to use the command `+lobby_max_fps 90` to limit FPS in the menu which can lower your GPU temps too. Just adjust the 90 to your preferred FPS.
Have you tried updating your chipset or GPU drivers? That could potentially fix some overheating issues. Sometimes, outdated drivers can cause problems, especially with new game versions.
I was in a similar boat but only hitting around 75°C. I managed to get it down to about 45°C by tweaking my power plans. Here’s how to do it:
1. Edit your Power Plan
2. Change Advanced Power Plan
3. Under Processor Power Management, set Maximum Processor State to 99%.
Just keep in mind, this might lower performance depending on your system.
Yeah, my FPS seems to be capped at 60 which should be fine, but it gets hot even after the shaders have loaded. Do you think it loads additional stuff after the dedicated screen too?
