I picked the druid class, which allows me to converse with animals, and Grok informed me that I’d soon get my first companion, who has the ability to talk to the dead. Grok was referring to Shadowheart, but I can’t find the Speak with Dead spell in her abilities. Can someone please explain, without spoilers, why that might be? Is it possible there’s a bug after patch 8 since Grok insists she should have it?

Speak with Dead is available for Bards and Clerics but only at level 5. If you want it earlier than that, you could also grab the Ritual Caster feat at level 4, which lets any character use it. There’s definitely some flexibility here!
Shadowheart actually doesn’t get the Speak with Dead spell until level 5 because it’s a 3rd level spell. Since she’s a cleric, she can prepare it once she reaches that level. Just so you know, there are other ways to get that spell too, like finding an amulet in Withers’ Sarcophagus early in the game. That way, you can use it even if Shadowheart hasn’t prepared it yet. Plus, don’t forget about the creepy book that lets you cast it too!
You can also snag Speak with Dead through an amulet found in the same room as Withers. It’s a nice little trick to access that spell without waiting for Shadowheart to level up!
