I’ve noticed that Game Freak doesn’t seem to pay much attention to certain Pokémon, and Meganium is one that stands out to me. It can learn moves like Poison Powder but isn’t able to pick up Toxic, plus it has Earthquake in its move set but no access to Earth Power. Other Grass-types like Sunflora and Cherrim can learn Dazzling Gleam, yet Meganium can only use Flash and shows some interesting glowing effects in Pokémon Snap. Some fans think it deserves a Fairy typing, but I doubt that will happen since no Fairy types currently have gender differences. If Meganium were given the Fairy typing, it would actually be the first to have those differences. What changes would you make to Meganium to make it more viable? Personally, I’d suggest giving it Thick Fat, Calm Mind, Toxic, and Pollen Puff, and maybe adjusting its stats to swap some Speed into HP.

I think if they changed Leaf Guard to Flower Veil, that could be a game changer! It would give Meganium immunity to status effects and stat drops, which would definitely buff its defensive capabilities. An immunity to burn and intimidate could really help it on Swords Dance sets too.
Meganium in New Pokémon Snap was such a delight! I absolutely loved it, so vibrant and charming.
It’s true that Meganium lost access to Toxic in Scarlet and Violet, which really doesn’t help its case. Grass typing can be tough, especially since it has so many weaknesses. Other bulky Grass types like Ferrothorn and Tangrowth just outshine Meganium because of their secondary typings and better tankiness.
Yeah, it really does suck that it lost such a useful move.
I have a soft spot for Meganium too! It definitely deserves a Mega Evolution—Grass/Dragon would be awesome!
Agreed! Just hope it gets good buffs without relying on something that might not make it into future games.
That’s a fantastic idea! That would fit perfectly with its theme.
