I’m curious why Games Workshop sticks to the status quo in the Warhammer 40K universe. It seems there’s a huge potential for escalation, but instead, we just see the same cycle. I get that there’s a lot of cash flow involved, but they’ve hinted at things like Fulgrim’s return and the Lion but only for the human factions. There’s so much more material available to blow things up in the lore! Take the Ynead story arc that everyone talks about; some say they can’t wake Ynead because it would make the Eldar overpowered. But why not buff the other factions instead? They could introduce a C’tan that regains its power or have significant events that impact all factions equally. It seems if done correctly, an escalation could keep things fresh for a long time and provide solid reasons for new models beyond just wanting to make more money. I might be rambling, but I just needed to share these thoughts!

Honestly, that sounds a bit too radical. Games Workshop has already veered towards superhero-type narratives, and if they escalated too much, it could lose the core of what makes the battles engaging. The idea of grand apocalyptic events just makes everything seem trivial. Imagine worlds just falling apart left and right; who would care about faction battles in that chaos?
Right? Ending the Eldar saga with “Oops, we can’t get the sword” isn’t any better. It just feels like a way to avoid proper development.
