Hey folks! I recently got the Journey’s Wake expansion and started playing through the early story. I’ve noticed that my WarClaw mount has this rugged look with horns and scales, while the Journeykin looks like these adorable, fluffy cats. What’s up with that? Is there any way to get my WarClaw to look more like the Journeykin? Or is that just a premium mount skin option?

The original WarClaw was primarily a mount for World vs World (WvW) and didn’t get much love in the skin department. With Journey’s Wake being a big story update, they made the Journeykin’s design way cuter to attract players. Just to clarify, you can unlock the Journeykin skin without the premium options; it’s tied to in-game achievements! Basically, the WarClaw represents an armored spirit conjured to help in battles, while the Journeykin is a living creature. So, while it’s not as fluffy, that’s kind of the lore behind it. If you’re wondering how each functions, try looking up the lore; it’s pretty interesting!
The WarClaw was released a few years before Journey’s Wake, and the Journeykin is essentially a reimagined version of it. You actually unlock the cuter skin through the story, so keep playing! You’ll get there!
Thanks for the heads up!
You’re actually able to switch to the Journeykin skin for your WarClaw once you complete a story chapter in Journey’s Wake. It should unlock automatically, just check your Hero panel under mounts when you’re done!
You also get the Journeykin skin after completing the first episode of Journey’s Wake or by putting a point in a mastery; one of those! It’s a nice incentive to keep exploring the new areas!
Oh really? Thanks! I’m excited to do more Janthir areas now!
Thanks for clarifying!
