I’ve been using the DE Sickle weapon and noticed that it always shows I have 3 magazines left, even after fully overheating it. I’ve never actually run out of ammo, so I’m wondering if this is a bug or if the developers designed it this way and just never updated the display properly. Has anyone else come across this or know why it behaves like this?

The DE Sickle’s design lets you fire nonstop, but you can also reload to switch batteries and keep firing without taking damage from overheating. So those spare mags exist to give you more control over heat and damage. It’s not a bug, just part of how the weapon works to balance risk and reward.
There has been some talk that the ammo count and switching batteries should consume mags after overheating, and that there might be bugs related to that. But with the DE Sickle, it’s actually a feature that you can keep firing by overheating at the cost of taking burn damage yourself, which also boosts its damage and armor-piercing. So the mag count showing up even after overheating is intentional for this weapon’s special mechanics.
The magazines actually represent spare energy cells you can reload manually. Reloading resets the heat gauge faster than just waiting for it to cool down on its own. So even though the DE Sickle can fire continuously by overheating, the spare mags let you avoid burning yourself by giving you a quick way to cool down.
Oh wow, I never even thought to try reloading the thing that way!
Good to know! I didn’t realize reloading was an option with the DE Sickle.
