I was trying to wrap up the “I am become death” quest, but my teammate ended up launching the nuke instead of me. It completed the quest for both of us, which was super frustrating! Can someone explain why this happens?

Yeah, it’s annoying sometimes, but at least you’re getting free XP and rewards! I only bother with the squatter event if there’s a daily challenge, then it’s worth it to complete it for everyone else as well.
I had a similar experience! I was level 15, didn’t even know what I was doing, and suddenly got the achievement and quest completion out of nowhere. I never pressed the button or entered a silo, so I was bummed out at first, but it does make me want to try it properly now!
I get where you’re coming from! I was just looking to complete the storyline too and got lucky one time by joining a team that launched the nuke. It’s a repeatable quest, so I ended up getting my trophy a few days later after I launched one myself!
It’s actually a neat feature! The game lets everyone in the team get achievements for completing shared objectives. When you team up and work through the silo together, even if someone else presses the big button, it counts for everyone. Plus a lot of players use glitches to make it easier, so it’s not just about the nuke launch but the teamwork!
What’s this about a glitch?
Honestly, you’re not missing much! I went through it once early on and never bothered again. It’s such a hassle, especially without hacks, and you feel kind of left out on the story when you don’t actually drop the nuke. It’s like there’s a need for more rewards for those who do the quest legitimately!
I usually try to help out with those daily challenges too! It’s a win-win.
