Hey everyone, I’ve been having this annoying issue where my PS5 screen goes black for a second or two while I’m playing, and then it comes back on. The console itself doesn’t turn off or anything like that. I’ve checked the HDMI connection, and it seems secure. I’ve also swapped HDMI ports on my Samsung CU7000 TV. Any advice would be awesome!

Are these blackouts happening randomly during gameplay, or more when you’re switching between applications?
You might want to try disabling the HDMI Device Link in your PS5’s settings. Some users have found that it helps resolve similar blackouts.
I already disabled that, but the issue still happens.
This sounds like it might be related to HDMI handshake issues or refresh rate conflicts. Here are a few things to check:
1. Ensure you’re using a high-speed HDMI 2.1-certified cable, especially for 4K/120Hz gaming. The cable that came with your PS5 should work.
2. Check your TV’s settings. On your Samsung CU7000, enable ‘Input Signal Plus’ for the HDMI port your PS5 is using.
3. Make sure there’s no mismatch in output settings. Go to PS5 Settings > Screen and Video > Video Output. Set the resolution to 2160p or automatic, HDR to ‘On When Supported’ or ‘Always On’, and set 120Hz Output to ‘Automatic’. Try disabling VRR if it’s enabled, since your TV doesn’t support true HDMI VRR.
4. If blackouts persist, make sure the PS5 is connected to HDMI port 1 on the TV, which typically handles higher bandwidth.
5. Finally, ensure your TV firmware is up to date: Settings > Support > Software Update.
If nothing else works, you could also try lowering your resolution to 1080p temporarily to see if that stops the blackouts.
