I let my PS Plus subscription expire yesterday since I can’t afford to renew it right now. I got a bank notification about an attempted charge that didn’t go through. Initially, my PS Plus access was gone, but today I logged in and found that I can still play all the PS Plus games. I checked my mum’s account since one of her cards is linked to my wallet, but there were no charges. Can anyone explain why I still have access without paying?

I recently let my subscription lapse too and was surprised at how long they let me keep access. I feel like they might allow as much as a month before they cut you off completely! But honestly, PS Plus sometimes feels a bit overpriced for what you get. The games can be hit or miss.
During that PSN outage a while back, a lot of people got their PS Plus extended for free. It’s possible that this temporary extension is why you still have access. I think they gave everyone 5 days for that.
Now that you mention it, I did get an email about that downtime, but I totally forgot!
It sounds like you might be benefiting from a grace period that Sony sometimes offers. They often give players an extra 5 days of access after your subscription ends, just to give you some breathing room. So that could be why you’re still able to play!
Oh, I wasn’t aware of that! Thanks for the heads-up!
If your subscription ended but wasn’t officially canceled, they might still give you a few days of trying before they fully cut off access. They could also be sending you reminders before disabling the subscription, like an automated message that they’ll attempt to charge and then you’ll lose access if it doesn’t go through.
Yeah, I noticed an attempted charge too, but my account’s basically empty, so I’m not paying!
I actually enjoy some of the titles you get! Over the years, I’ve saved a ton by using PS Plus, definitely worth it if you play a lot!
