I’ve been playing Minecraft since 2010 when a buddy of mine got an alpha invite from Notch. I bought a username during the beta to join in the fun, but later on, my beta account wasn’t recognized and I had to repurchase the game. Now that I’ve logged into my Mojang account, Microsoft tells me it’s too late to merge accounts, and they want me to buy the game for the third time! To make matters worse, I even bought it on Xbox in 2013, so they’re asking for a fourth purchase! What’s up with that?

Crazy how they want to charge you again! I had a similar experience where I went to repurchase Minecraft on Xbox using the same account I originally bought it on, and it didn’t even recognize my ownership! Total cash grab if you ask me. Makes you wonder how many other players are stuck in that loop.
Yikes, that’s frustrating! I switched accounts on my mobile version once and ended up having to buy it again too. I feel your pain! It’s clearly a money grab from Microsoft, and a lot of us are left feeling a bit cheated.
It sounds like you’ve run into the classic account migration issues. Microsoft gave a long warning about needing to merge Mojang accounts into Microsoft ones, but it seems like a bummer that you’re locked out and forced to rebuy the game. I’d suggest checking any recovery options or customer service; they sometimes can help sort out these issues, even if it feels like a long shot.
