I’m running into a really frustrating issue where my ping is super low (like 10 ms) with no lag or packet loss on every other game I play. But on Fortnite specifically, my ping is always at least 90 ms, with 2-3% packet loss constantly. I’m connected to the correct servers and I’m using the exact same WiFi setup I always have. This problem just started recently after I came back to playing Fortnite following a break of a few months. Does anyone know what could be causing this sudden high ping and packet issues only in Fortnite? I’m really hoping to fix this.

I’ve had a similar situation where new devices connecting to the same WiFi caused Fortnite to lag badly. When others in my house upgraded to newer phones, my Fortnite ping would spike unless they disconnected or turned off WiFi. Restarting the router helped temporarily but the lag came back after a while. Maybe some devices or apps on your network are using bandwidth in a way that specifically affects Fortnite’s connection?
Fortnite’s servers or network path might be experiencing problems or congestion in your area, causing your ping and packet loss to spike even though other games work fine. Sometimes games use different network routes or ports, so an issue on Fortnite’s end or with your ISP’s routing specifically for that game could cause this. Using a wired connection or trying a VPN to change your route might help diagnose or temporarily fix it.
Double-check that you’re definitely on the right Fortnite server. Sometimes if the server gets switched by accident or the game picks one automatically you didn’t intend, your ping jumps dramatically. I once had my ping shoot up to 90 ms when it switched me to the EU server instead of my usual region. You said you’ve tried switching, but it’s worth verifying again or even testing under a different network if possible.
Sometimes playing with someone from a different region who’s hosting the game can cause high ping, but since you said that’s not the case, it might be something else. Have you tried resetting your router or modem? Or maybe checking if any background apps are using bandwidth while you play? It could also be something unrelated to WiFi but the game’s network code acting up for you after your break.
Yeah, no one else from a different region and I’ve tried resetting the router too. Background apps don’t seem to be the issue either.
Yup, I’m sure about the server choice and I switched multiple times but the ping stays high only on Fortnite.
