I’m really struggling to understand the game design behind boarding vehicles like Scorpions and Wraiths in Halo Infinite. The Wraith feels super mobile, has versatile projectiles, and can take a ton of damage without the driver getting killed. Yet, when I try to board, I often face issues like the prompt not appearing, getting killed by the mortar if I’m too close to a wall, and the driver easily escaping without dying. It’s frustrating, and I’m wondering if this is a bug or if anyone else feels the same. Why isn’t there more discussion about this?

You’re not alone; boarding feels way clunkier in Infinite. Besides the prompt issues, there seems to be a delay after boarding, which makes you a sitting duck. Plus, punching feels slow and has lower damage than before. It’s more about luck than skill now.
One of the worst parts is boarding a Wraith and winding up in the turret seat. I get that for Warthogs it makes sense, but for a Wraith? It’s just ridiculous when all you want is to take out the driver!
Skill issue? Nah, man. I think there are definitely bugs or weird design flaws with the boarding mechanics.
I totally get your frustration! The prompt for boarding definitely seems broken at times. One way I’ve found to deal with seat switching is to avoid bringing grenades. If you go in for a melee instead, you can take the vehicle down faster since it doesn’t give the driver a chance to bail. Definitely worth a shot!
I might need to try that! I usually thought I could get a quick plant with a grenade, but maybe punching will work better than I thought.
Great tip! I actually find that if they switch seats, I usually can jump into the driver’s seat before they have a chance to counter it.
Yeah, I feel like the mechanics favor the drivers way too much now. They seem to keep buffing vehicles to make them last longer, which totally ruins the balance. Losing a Scorpion feels like an automatic game over on certain maps, especially with the vehicle healing capabilities. It’s frustrating!
Definitely! The healing field is just overkill. It seems like an odd choice to make vehicles so dominant in the game.
Honestly, the game feels like a downgrade overall. I played at launch and can say that many aspects have just been watered down. It’s a sad state for Halo, to be honest.
People are saying it’s a skill issue. But honestly, I see issues with boarding all the time, whether I’m doing it or watching others do it. It’s frustrating to see, and I can only think that there’s something off about the mechanics here.
I see it happening all the time too! Feels like it’s not just a skill issue but a mechanical one.
Seriously! I can’t tell you how many times this has happened to me. It’s so annoying.
