I’ve been playing on my Xbox 360 for a few weeks now and picked up several games, including the original Homefront, COD: Ghosts, LA Noire, and Dead Island 1. I’ve noticed that even though Homefront has decent graphics, it struggles to run smoothly at 30 fps. Dead Island shows similar performance issues. Interestingly, LA Noire also stutters a bit, but I can overlook it because of its large scale and less combat-heavy moments. On the other hand, COD: Ghosts looks great and seems to run at around 60 fps, even though it’s likely still 30 fps, and performs better than I expected given the intensive graphics. I’m curious about why this is happening. Is COD: Ghosts simply optimized better than the others? Also, for reference, COD 3 runs worse than these newer titles, probably due to its age. Any insights would be appreciated!

Have you considered that your Xbox 360 might be thermal throttling? Dust buildup can seriously impact performance, especially with older consoles. COD games back then typically ran smoother due to smaller maps and less CPU load. Also, check which model you have since some are more prone to issues than others!
Some games just hit differently on the 360. COD: Ghosts probably received more attention during development, optimizing it better than others like Homefront. It’s interesting how it runs more smoothly while still looking great!
That’s fair! The studio likely had more resources to spend on COD: Ghosts compared to Homefront, which might explain the performance difference. Thanks for the insight!
The performance variations can be off-putting, but it often comes down to the game’s optimization. Some titles, like COD: Ghosts, were designed later with better tech in mind, which helps them run smoother on older hardware like the 360. Keep an eye on your overall setup too!
That’s a good point! I can’t clean it right now since I’m away from home, but it’s definitely something I’ll look into. My Xbox model has that bow in the middle, so I’ll check which one it is when I’m back. Thanks!
