I’ve noticed a pattern with some gamers who seem perfectly content playing just one game for years on end. I find myself a bit envious of those who have mastered titles like Skyrim, Diablo, or Civilization and don’t feel the urge to jump around to other franchises. They seem to just find their game and dive deep, while I’m all over the place with different genres and titles. What makes players choose to dedicate themselves to one game for such a long time? I’m specifically not talking about titles where you buy a new version each year like Call of Duty or League of Legends, but rather those who truly immerse themselves in a single game. I’m curious to hear your thoughts!

I don’t get the whole sticking to just one game thing either. I play a few games constantly, but I can’t imagine not trying something new. My Steam library is huge but I keep coming back to Overwatch, Fallout 4, and Cyberpunk 2077 consistently. There’s just so much out there to experience!
For me, it’s really about finding that one game that just fits perfectly. I’ve played Diablo II for over a decade now because nothing else scratches that same itch – the itemization, the PvP, it’s like a comfort zone. I’ve tried other games, but they just don’t resonate like D2 does.
I feel that! Skyrim always brings me back too because every playthrough can feel so different thanks to mods. Plus, there’s something so relaxing about just wandering around that world.
Honestly, I think it comes down to addiction sometimes. I mean, I’ve played Destiny a ton and while it was great at first, getting stuck in that endless loop can be both fun and exhausting. I finally broke free from it and started exploring other games, and it’s been a breath of fresh air! It can get monotonous if you don’t diversify your gaming diet.
Yeah, that makes sense. I’ve been playing WoW since 2004, and it started out as an obsession too. Now I just play it casually, but I always end up trying a bunch of new stuff in between.
Exactly! It’s like sticking to one dish your whole life. Sure, you might love it, but there’s an entire buffet of experiences waiting.
