I’ve noticed something frustrating while playing Helldivers, especially during missions involving Bugs. It seems like I get intentionally or accidentally team-killed by other players more often in these Bug-diver matches than with Bot-divers, whose cases tend to be mostly accidental, like ricochets or dropped stratagems. I just want to complete the missions, but some teammates make it really tough to stay motivated. Is this just bad luck on my part, or is there something about the player base or game mode that explains this?

Bugs missions are coded to be the “easy” mode in Helldivers, while Bots are the real “challenge”. That means newer or less experienced players tend to gravitate towards Bugs, which might explain why you’re encountering teammates who don’t seem as skilled or aware during these runs.
From my experience, Bugs get dangerously close quickly, so if your team isn’t using primaries effectively or keeping an eye out, friendly fire incidents spike. I try staying near the back with my Emancipator to cover the team, but sometimes even that doesn’t prevent getting popped by accident or bad positioning.
Honestly, if you feel like there’s too much friendly fire, try a 3+1 team setup where three people distract and fight while one stealthily focuses on objectives. Playing smart and finding your role helps a lot with team cohesion.
Sounds like you’re just hitting some unlucky squads. I mostly stick to Bugs and Squids and usually have a solid experience. The few times I ran into bad groups, they seemed more focused on having fun among friends than actually playing the objective. I even accidentally friendly-fired sometimes and just apologized when they came back.
I really hope this streak of bad luck passes soon. I’m just trying to enjoy Bug missions without the chaos.
Thanks for explaining that! It makes a lot of sense now.
