I’ve been using an SNES for a while now, but I’ve noticed that the start and select buttons feel mushy and uncomfortable when pressed for longer periods, like when navigating the main menu in Mega Man X. However, I recently picked up an NES, and the start and select buttons feel way better, with no issues at all. Is it just me, or has anyone else felt this way about the differences between the SNES and NES controllers?

Yeah, you’re definitely not imagining things! The SNES controllers are generally built with less precision and quality compared to the NES ones. It’s a common complaint among gamers. Interestingly, while the SNES buttons may feel mushy, some say that the design allows for easier diagonal movements on the d-pad, which is a plus!
