I’ve noticed that shaders take an incredibly long time to compile on my PC, especially for larger games like Apex. My friends’ systems seem to load them much quicker, and while I have decent hardware, I’m curious if there’s a specific component I should be looking into upgrading. Is there a certain part that’s primarily responsible for shader loading times? Any tips would be greatly appreciated!

Make sure to keep an eye on your CPU temperatures while shaders are being compiled. If it gets too hot, your CPU might throttle itself, making the process take even longer.
It really comes down to CPU performance since shader compiling is quite intensive. If you have a faster processor, it should speed things up. It’s pretty much all CPU work!
Shaders don’t actually download; they get compiled, which can be pretty CPU intensive. If you’re running a demanding game, it can really heat up your CPU. For example, I have a 7800X3D, and while it stays pretty cool during regular gameplay, it spikes when compiling shaders. Some games let you skip the compilation process, but you might end up with texture bugs if you do that!
I have an AMD Ryzen 7 5800X with 8 cores. Should I be looking to upgrade for more cores or is there something else to focus on?
