I’ve had my PS5 since early 2022, and I’m now on my fifth controller due to persistent stick drift on the right joystick. It’s incredibly frustrating since these controllers cost around $70 each! I never experienced this problem with my PS4 controllers, which makes me wonder if Sony is doing something on purpose. I play a lot of shooters and take good care of my controllers. What can I do to avoid this issue in the future?

Man, I feel you. These controllers are way too pricey to be falling apart like this! I’ve had my share of stick drift issues too, mainly on the right stick, and it started pretty fast after buying my controllers. I’ve had to send them back multiple times due to drift. Since then, I’ve switched to the DualSense Edge and plan on replacing the sticks when they wear out. Seems like the only way to deal with it now.
Interestingly, both of my launch controllers are still in good shape. Could just be luck! But maybe try adjusting your grip or playing style? Sometimes slight differences can help reduce wear. Just a thought!
Stick drift seems to be all too common, especially with the potentiometer. It’s manufactured by ALPS, which supplies parts to Sony, Microsoft, and Nintendo. It could be that playing shooters causes more wear on these parts due to constant adjustments. I noticed my drift started after I got back into COD, so maybe it is linked to the gameplay. Either way, it’s super annoying!

Thanks for the tip! I’ll try to be more mindful of my grip and see if that helps.
