I was just minding my business, exploring the game without attacking anyone, when suddenly a player at level 1500 came out of nowhere. He kept coming at me with a Gatling plasma weapon, destroyed my power armor, and ended up taking all my items when I died. Why do players feel the need to repeatedly kill others, especially when they’re not even engaging in PvP?

I feel you on that; if you don’t want to get involved in PvP, Pacifist mode is definitely the way to go. It makes playing a lot easier without worrying about getting ambushed by higher-level players.
It’s pretty common; some players are just looking for a fight. Keeping to a Pacifist mode is key, and avoiding any actions that provoke them. If you stick to that, you’ll definitely have a smoother experience!
Yeah, some players just love hunting others. If they see that you’re not actively engaging, they can be quick to exploit that for some easy loot. Just focus on the fun aspects of the game and avoid confrontations when you can.
Honestly, if you’re getting targeted like that, just avoid actions that make you a target. Don’t loot from other players’ camps or anything like that, and keep your gun down if someone approaches. Staying off the radar can really help.
If you get attacked, just make sure you don’t retaliate, or it can log you as wanted!
It sounds like you might want to check your PvP settings. If you turn on Pacifist mode, it should prevent other players from attacking you unless you engage first. Just avoid picking up bounties or shooting at others, and you should be safer!
How do I actually turn on Pacifist mode? I’m pretty new to the game.
You can find the option in the game settings, it’s pretty straightforward.
What if someone attacks me first? Do I just take it?
