I’ve always viewed Arcade Play as a casual experience in Overwatch, but now I’ve hit a wall since I recently had to create a new account. It states I need to win 50 games to unlock competitive mode, and I’m really struggling to understand why it’s set up this way. I’ve heard countless complaints from other players in Arcade about needing wins just to access competitive, and honestly, it feels excessive. I’ve played 34 games so far, losing 12 of them mostly due to teammates who seem to be sabotaging the gameplay instead of genuinely trying to win. I’m asking for some advice here: how can I guide my teammates towards success, or should I just get used to grinding through these wins?

Yeah, you just have to suck it up for now. The win requirement is meant to deter bot accounts that just stand around in spawn to avoid being kicked, which unfortunately affects honest players like you when you’re stuck in a 4v5 situation. It’s a rough trade-off, but it’s aimed at keeping competitive lobbies cleaner. Hang in there!
But I get what you’re saying! When I say ‘selling’, I mean players who actively sabotage the game. Winning 50 games in a team-based environment feels kind of brutal.
