I’ve been using my Steam Deck a lot lately, but I’ve run into a frustrating issue. Whenever I start a game on the Deck while something is running on my main PC, I get logged out of my Steam account. This is really annoying and has made me hesitant to recommend the Steam Deck to anyone. Is there any way to prevent getting logged out other than disabling the WiFi on my Deck or making sure I close everything on my PC beforehand?

Just a heads up, if you’re logged into both devices, you might run into issues since your Steam license isn’t meant to be shared simultaneously. The best way around this is to set one device to offline mode. That way, you can enjoy your games without facing those annoying logouts!
Weird, I haven’t faced this issue at all! I’ve left games running on both my PC and the Deck without getting kicked off Steam. Maybe check your Steam settings? There might be an option you haven’t explored yet.
I had a similar thing happen once, but it turned out I had one PC in offline mode, which helped avoid the logout. Just check that option!
Consider setting up a second account and using Steam Family Sharing. You can give that account access to your library and play on the Deck without worrying about getting logged out from your main account.
Thanks for the suggestion! I’ll definitely look into that.
Yeah, it sounds odd to me too. I once had an issue while my partner was using the Deck and I was working on my PC, but I just opened my game without Steam. Not a big deal, just annoying. Maybe keeping one device in sleep mode could help you avoid the logout.
