I’ve noticed that modern female characters in Resident Evil seem to be lacking in style. When I compare them to earlier games, such as the original RE2, they had unique and memorable outfits. But ever since the RE2 remake, it feels like we’re just seeing the same boring tank tops and jeans. For example, Grace’s outfit seriously disappointed me. I want characters to have distinct looks that celebrate their individuality—not just color-swapped versions of the same model! The RE4 remake broke the mold a bit, so I hoped we’d see more creativity in RE9. Instead, it seems like we’re back to generic looks again, which is really frustrating.

It seems like the simpler designs are supposed to reflect a more realistic and gritty style. But sometimes it just comes off as boring. I mean, Grace works in a professional environment, which can contribute to her bland look, but I still want to see some personality!
I can see what you’re saying. Jill and Claire might have different styles, but if you strip away Claire’s jacket, how do they really stand out? I mean, give Grace some flair, like a cool color scheme or unique clothing! It’s just disappointing to see them in such plain outfits.
Exactly! I want to see a character that pops, not just blend into a crowd. They could try something wild, like overalls or a distinctive accessory. Anything would be better than the same old style!
Back in the day, they had to give characters unique outfits to stand out due to technical limitations. Nowadays, with better graphics, they might not feel the need to make them as distinctive. I guess they think more plain clothing makes characters feel more grounded, though I totally get why it’s frustrating!
Honestly, it seems like this is a trend in modern games. The characters look great in the engine, but their clothes have become really bland. Maybe it’s an intentional choice to make them feel more relatable or realistic, but I miss the individuality from older titles!
True, but they could at least give her a casual outfit later that shows her character. I just feel like they could be more creative instead of reverting to boring styles!
